Avalon Lightahead Meet2

Avalon D’Abreo

If you want to be someone in the world who wants to make a difference in people’s lives for their well-being, and are thinking about coaching, I strongly urge you to JUST DO IT.

Avalon’s formal life coaching journey began in May 2013 when he met Glen Murdoch at The Life Coaching College and it would take him on an incredible journey right up until 2023 before he finished all of the components of his Master Practitioner of Coaching course. We have always believed that students take their own journey at the College and sometimes that journey is super fast and sometimes that journey is a beautiful meandering ten-year stream! We thought it would be great for you to hear from Avalon about his personal journey to becoming a coach.

“My formal life coaching journey began in May 2013 when I met Glen Murdoch at The Life Coaching College. In a world when there is plenty of fluff going around; with lies, lies and more lies; Glen was a breath of fresh air, straight down the line, with no fluff, who told you exactly what he thought, was firm in his convictions, and comfortable in himself. That immediately resonated with me as I saw a bit of “me” in him!
However, the seeds of my coaching journey were sown way back in 1982 when I joined the seminary in Bombay, to study towards the Catholic Priesthood. A few years later, I decided that the Priesthood was limiting what I really wanted to do with my life, and so I entered the world of financial services, rapidly building a very successful career in 3 cities (Bombay, Dubai, Melbourne) over a period of more than 30 years; naturally coaching people along the way – a skill that was pointed out to me by my colleagues in Melbourne, one of who, introduced me to Glen.
2013 was a watershed year for me. It was the year that I ceased regular employment and set up my own businesses – a financial advisory business in 2013 and a life coaching business in 2014. I have never regretted my decision. It was the utterly toxic culture that existed within the big banks, and the widespread collateral damage in terms of the people that were impacted by psychopathic managers, that all combined to propel me towards taking control of my own destiny; and deciding to make a difference in the world. It was the year that I began my journey with The Life Coaching College.
The Life Coaching College offered me all that I needed, in one single place, to be the best coach that I could possibly be. With world class trainers, I quickly gained insight and training into the world of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Conscious Hypnosis, and completed the Diploma of Life Coaching. The resources that are forthcoming from the college are enormous, and as a student, I had access to everything that was needed to set up a life coaching business.
However, it was the Banking Royal Commission in 2018, and the loss of several financial advisers who took their own lives, that really made me take a long hard look at the world around us, and also myself. I was determined to BE the difference in the world; DO what needed to be done to upskill myself, so that I could HAVE a meaningful business that also provided me with a decent living. That was a no-brainer and after consultation with Glen, I decided to enroll in the Master Practitioner of Life Coaching program in 2019.
The Master program upskilled me in NLP and Hypnosis, and introduced me to mBIT, Extended DISC, Keynote Speaking, Authorship, and a host of other opportunities, too numerous to mention. My coaching business simultaneously grew exponentially so that I made the decision to exit my financial advisory business in 2021 to concentrate solely on my coaching practice. Completing the Master Practitioner of Coaching program in December 2021 was a proud achievement for me that very easily segued
into the Associate Credentialled Coach (ACC) program with the International Coaching Federation, with me receiving the accreditation in July 2022.
My focus has been on working with young men who have set up successful financial services businesses, and who are looking for more out of life. They include financial advisers, mortgage brokers, accountants, real estate agents, insurance advisers, and leaders in financial services organisations. I provide my clients with a safe space, with no judgment, and total privacy. I focus on my clients’ overall well being and seeing them flourish and thrive is a joy that cannot be adequately described.
I am also focused on leadership and building high performance teams, coaching like-minded groups of people in the areas of wellness, forgiveness, spirituality and emotional intelligence.
If you want to be someone in the world who wants to make a difference in people’s lives for their well-being, and are thinking about coaching, I strongly urge you to JUST DO IT. The world needs coaches like never before. There are enough business opportunities and clients for everyone. Wear a world-class mindset, and the world will reward you.”
